Meguiar's choose KENWOOD for Rising Sunny
Meguiar’s UK consistently create some of the most eye catching projects at the UK shows. The latest, dubbed ‘Rising Sunny’ is no exception. Grafting a Hakosuka Skyline front end onto a humble Datsun Sunny pick up is an inspired look and gives a utilitarian twist to the classic Skyline face.
Before the teem took on any bodywork they knew that the car would need some in car entertainment to make visiting shows and events in the truck a little more fun. For this Meguiar’s turned to Kenwood to add a little sound without compromising the old school look.

For this build we opted for a KDC-W707, affectionately known as the ‘KENWOOD Mask’. This receiver has a motorised faceplate that hides itself from view when the ignition is off, not only giving a level of security but allowing for an ultra-clean look. It’s a heritage unit and no longer available to buy. We keep a collection of vintage head units for special projects like this and we were super excited to see it in action!
Providing the sound is a pair of KFC-S1366 speakers.
A KSC-SW11 under-seat active subwoofer completes the audio upgrades and remains totally hidden from view. Essential in such a retro-inspired build where cabin space is really at a premium.
Despite being a super-compact package, KSC-SW11 provides the rich deep bass sounds of a traditional 12″ boxed subwoofer. It can provide the kick for a really rounded audio setup, without sacrificing space.
